Rejoice is a new standard of blackberry — the industry’s first year-round, low-reversion variety. That distinction needed to come through in every shot.

Most food photography can hide its flaws in styling. Berries can’t. A dried-up calyx reads as old before anyone’s consciously noticed it. A wrinkle in the skin reads as bruised. A misshapen berry, shot from the wrong angle, reads as less ripe than it is.

So the sorting happens before the shoot, not during retouching. We’re picking through fruit for the ones without the tells, then lighting and hydrating to catch the sheen that says “just picked” instead of the dullness that says “been sitting.”
